Training on vermicomposting starts

PASIGHAT, Jul 29: Fifteen unemployed rural youths from various parts of East Siang district are participating in a six-day ‘skills training on vermicomposting’ which began here on Monday.
The training is being organised by the State Agriculture Management & Extension Training Institute, in association with the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management.
Addressing the inaugural function, Agriculture Assistant Director Sengo Dini said the training would help the participants in making low-cost vermicomposting units and generate income for themselves.
“They will also be able to provide technical knowledge to other youths of their areas on vermicomposting and take up agriculture as a profitable enterprise,” he said.
Faculty members from the College of Horticulture & Forestry, Drs P Devnath, P Raja, SK Pathnaik, Pilu, and Sumina Devi are the resource persons of the training programme.
