NEW DELHI, Jul 29: Renowned choreographer and folk artist from Arunachal Pradesh, John Paleng, received the ‘Iconic Personality of India-2019’ award from the Indraprashtha Educational Research & Charitable Trust here on 28 July. He received the award for his contribution in the field of art and culture.
A civil engineering graduate and a native of Koreng village in Siang district, 30-year-old Paleng is the first choreographer of an Adi feature film, Aati Peying (2007). He had earlier this year been awarded the Nritya Bhusan Award by the Natraj Sanskritic Silpi Samaj.
Paleng is also the assistant general secretary of the state unit of Sanskar Bharati, and director of the Siang Folk Dance and Music Academy.
