CHIMPU, Aug 4: The Itanagar Solung Football Tournament-2019 was kicked off by Capital Complex SP Tumme Amo at the APP battalion ground here on Sunday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Amo advised the players to maintain discipline on and off the field. He appealed to the people to be law abiding and follow the rules on the road to minimize traffic congestion in the capital complex.
Celebration committee chairman Taring highlighted the objectives of organizing sports and cultural events as part of the Solung celebration.
The committee’s general secretary Tashor Pali and other senior citizens and community leaders were present on the occasion.
The inaugural match was played between defending champion Bango United FC and Pirbo Lipik, which was won by the former by 4-2 goals.
Twenty-four teams are participating in the tournament.
