PASIGHAT, Aug 6: East Siang HQ Pasighat has been declared an open defecation-free town by the Pasighat municipal council.
Expressing happiness over the achievement, Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh said, “It was a Herculean task to achieve after long exercise as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBM).”
Singh said eradicating open defecation is part of the SBM, which aims to make India open defecation-free by October this year. She gave assurance that there would be no slackness in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness once the tag has been awarded. (DIPRO)
