CS asks dist authorities to be on alert, fortify ILP checking

ITANAGAR, Aug 6: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal on Tuesday instructed all the district authorities to be on maximum alert in order to preempt and prevent any breach of security or public order.
The CS gave the instruction during a video conference he held from the civil secretariat here with all the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police. He asked the officers to maintain law and order in all the districts, in view of the introduction of the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019.
Gopal directed the officers to closely monitor developments, so that “it is not used by inimical and antisocial elements to cause breach of security, peace and public harmony in any part of the state.”
The CS also gave special direction to the DCs and the SPs to strictly strengthen the inner line permit (ILP) checking in their respective districts and keep strict vigil, particularly in the districts sharing boundaries with Assam and Nagaland.
Gopal asked the officers to take special care to ensure the safety and security of students, traders and tourists hailing from Jammu & Kashmir in any part of the state.
The CS also gave instructions to maintain vigil against circulation of false and unverified news, rumours and unscrupulous messages on social media “aimed at disturbing peace and tranquility and inciting violence and communal discord.” (CSO)
