Mass social service, plantation before I-Day

DAPORIJO/ RUKSIN, Aug 14: Mass social services were conducted at Daporijo Township in Upper Subansiri on the eve of the Independence Day celebration on Wednesday.
Thousands of people from all walks of life spontaneously participated in the social service to uphold the aims and objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The cleaning drives were conducted at the district hospital, New Market, Gandhi Market, and cooperative areas and in many other places by various NGOs organization and political parties on Wednesday.
The students and staff of Bazar Middle school, Rijo Secondary School, members of the district BJP unit, New Market Welfare Society, district medical officials, students from the GNM nursing hospital and various NGOs joined the social service.
On Tuesday, the All Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union also organized a mass social service in all market areas of the township as part of their routine activity to make the students aware about the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Daporijo MLA Taniya Soki urged the people to make cleanliness a way of their life and keep their township and surrounding areas neat and clean.
As part of the Independence Day celebration here in East Siang district, administrative officers led by Ruksin ADC Kabit Apang and other government officials conducted a mass plantation programme at Ruksin Township on Wednesday morning.
The officials planted 200 saplings covering both sides of the Ruksin portion of Mirem-Mikong-Jonai road.
Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao, former MLA Tatung Jamoh, public leader Tamat Jonnom and Ono Panggeng, besides Ruksin Range Forest Officer (T) Yide Potom, Deputy Ranger Opang Jamoh and other dignitaries took part in the plantation programme.
The forest officials here have requested the local people to take care of the saplings “as their own child and ensure their healthy survival.”
