KAKOI, Aug 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Papum Pare organized a day-long awareness programme on harmful effects and health hazards of Parthenium weed near here at Kakoi village on Wednesday as a part of Parthenium awareness week from 16 to 22 August.
Parthenium weed is commonly known as congress grass or wild carrot grass.
Senior Scientist cum head of the Kendra, Dr Bangkeng Perme, along with his team of Subject Matter Specialists deliberated on various control and eradication measures as well as crops and human health related issues associated with obnoxious Parthenium weed.
Later in the programme, it was also announced that an organic farming system will be promoted in Kakoi village over an area of 50 acres under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna.
