BANDERDEWA, Aug 27: The combined annual training camp of the National Cadet Corps’ (NCC) 1 Arunachal Pradesh battalion got underway at the Police Training Centre here in Papum Pare district on Tuesday.
Altogether 500 cadets (boys and girls) from various schools and colleges of Arunachal and Assam are participating in the camp, which will conclude on 5 September.
The camp is aimed at introducing the cadets to the disciplined military life, inculcating in them the basic qualities of leadership, camaraderie and national integration, and making them responsible citizens of the country.
The training will be imparted by Army personnel along with five teachers from various schools and colleges accompanying the cadets, under the supervision of the CO of the battalion, Col RK Sharma.
The cadets will be engaged in community development activities like cleanliness drives, blood donation, etc, besides being taught first aid, firefighting, road safety measures, self-defence, etc, during the course of the camp.
