Sainik school celebrates raising day

NIGLOK, Aug 27: The first raising day of the sainik school here in East Siang district was celebrated in a befitting manner by the student cadets, faculty members and staffers of the school on Tuesday.
Congratulating the cadets and members of the school community on the milestone reached by the lone sainik school of the state, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao expressed happiness that “the cadets are being nurtured to develop all-round personality along with academic activities.”
Gao lauded the dedication of the teachers, and urged them to “guide the young cadets to prepare them as disciplined and successful citizens who would contribute to nation-building.”
The MP said the state government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for developing the school’s infrastructure at its permanent site. He also assured to provide fund for construction of the school’s auditorium in its current temporary location.
Earlier, Gao and Brigadier Saumya Banerjee of the 103 Infantry Brigade felicitated cadets during the investiture ceremony for their outstanding performances and for bagging awards in various categories during the recent east zone sainik schools sports and cultural championship held in Imphal, Manipur.
Local MLA Ninong Ering in a message to the school authority extended good wishes, and assured it of all possible help for the development of the school.
A ‘heritage walk’, along with cultural and skit presentations and mime performances were the highlights of the programme.
Cadet Tanyang Taku (Class 6) made a PowerPoint presentation on the journey of the school, which was raised as the 28th sainik school on 27 August, 2018, and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on 11 September, 2018, at its temporary location here.
Besides the parents of the cadets, former MLA Tatung Jamoh, East Siang DC Kinny Singh, SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, DDSE J Yirang, Sainik School Principal Lt Cdr Amit Kumar Dutt, and other Army officers were among those who witnessed the celebration. (DIPRO)
