ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Tirap district disaster management authority (DDMA) in collaboration with the district administration on Friday organized a disaster awareness programme and earthquake-, fire accident- and rescue-related mock drills at the general hospital and the PWD divisional office here.
The DDMA team, led by DDMO P Duggong, demonstrated disaster-related techniques, such as rescuing trapped people from damaged buildings, fire extinguishing, and first-aid, and provided fire and earthquake safety tips to the participants at both the venues.
Personnel of the police and the fire service department assisted the DDMA team in conducting the demonstration.
Duggong said such drills would be conducted at all major government establishments of the district, including schools.
DMO Dr K Mosang and Hospital Superintendent Dr K Socia also participated in the programme. PWD AE T Maji and Tirap SP K Riba also spoke. (DIPRO)
