AALO, Sep 2: “Our age-old culture, which manifests in the form of festivals, should continue to promote values and act as a binding thread for various communities,” said Aalo East MLA Kento Jini while attending the Solung festival celebration here in West Siang district on Sunday.
The MLA lauded the Adi community for properly grooming their young ones by encouraging them to speak their own dialects, “which helps in preserving our unique identity.”
He recollected the past when Mopin and Solung festivals used to be celebrated jointly by the Galo and Adi communities, and commended the celebration committee for “moving towards a meaningful direction this time by involving the Galo community of Aalo.”
Retired commandant Raken Padu, Aalo West BEO Kento Ngomdir, celebration committee president Ogong Tamuk, and Galo folklorist and CMPCS president Mijum Lona also spoke. (DIPRO)
