Rallies held to mark World Mental Health Day

ANINI, Oct 10: Students, members of NGOs, health department staffers and others took out a rally here in Dibang Valley district on Thursday to mark the World Mental Health Day (WMHD).
The theme of this year’s WMHD was ‘Mental health promotion and suicide prevention’.
The rally culminated at the general ground, where DMO Dr S Ronya informed the gathering about mental diseases, risk factors, and the warning signs of suicide.
DC (in-charge) T Mitkong urged the gathering to create awareness in order to curb incidences of suicide in the district.
In Lohit district, the health department observed the WMHD by taking out a rally in headquarters Tezu. The rally saw the participation of staff and officers of the zonal general hospital and students of the government secondary school in Tamla Nagar.
Participating in the programme, Assistant Commissioner Sunny Singh spoke about how mental health is as important as physical health.
“Students should be aware of mental health issues and seek help if anyone is going through day-to-day stress,” he said.
The DMO, the medical superintendent, District Programme Officer Dr S Towang, and other doctors were also present.
