PMGSY implementation reviewed

ITANAGAR, Dec 8: The implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Kra Daadi district was reviewed for the first time at a city hotel here on Saturday.
The meeting chiefly focused on the roads for which 80 percent payment has already been made by the department concerned, including the Bokam-Amji, the Bokam-Chambang and the Chambang-Gangte roads.
After hearing the grievances of the contractors and going through the report on the PMGSY projects in the district, Palin MLA Balo Raja, who presided over the meeting, directed the contractors and the RWD to ensure early completion of the PMGSY roads in the district.
The MLA also resolved issues pertaining to the controversial road from Sangchang to Korayar, in the presence of officials of the department concerned.
During the meeting, the participating contractors highlighted the problems faced by them while executing the projects, and agreed to construct the roads, including the Chambang-Gangte road, as per the DPRs.
Regarding the Rs 4 crore road project from Bokam to Amji, contractor Khyoda Taji gave assurance that the targeted road carpeting work would be completed by March next year.
Raja and Tali MLA Jikke Tako stressed on completing the road projects within the timeframe. “If anyone is found to be delaying project works, legal action will be taken against them as per the project norms and guidelines, and, if necessary, the matter will be brought to public notice as well as placed before the assembly,” the MLAs said.
Raja also assured to reward contractors who complete the projects, ensuring quality work, within the given timeframe.
RWD engineers, PMGSY contractors, former minister Takam Pario, Kra Daadi DC S Meji, and other government officers attended the meeting. However, not one of the PMGSY contractors from Tali constituency was present. (DIPR)
