ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The three-day long community radio awareness workshop organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), in partnership with SMART, concluded here on Wednesday.
During the workshop, participants were made aware of the entire process of application, policy guidelines, understanding of community, building of content, code of ethics, sustainability and funding opportunities.
Speaking during the valedictory function, IPR Director Obang Tayeng highlighted the potential of radio to transform communities and assured participants of all possible help and support for setting up stations.
He also urged Kesarwani Additional Director MIB to host a workshop for the department of IPR and the Bureau of Outreach and Communications of all of North East, to sensitize them about community radio.
Also present on the occasion was, Bureau of Outreach and Communications Director Keshav Murthy, who in his address suggested the ministry open CR cells in the northeast as connectivity is a major issue in the northeast region before setting up stations there.
