ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union has requested the chief secretary to issue an order directing all government departments to fill 50 percent of the posts of multitasking staffs through departmental promotion committees (DPC).
The union in a representation to the CS sought amendment in the notification for the recruitment of multitasking staffs, “as per which 50 percent of the vacancies shall be filled up from amongst the contingency staffs that have completed 15 years of service and who possess educational qualification of Class 10/ITI or equivalent pass certificate from recognized board or institution.”
It said most of the casual contingency workers who are engaged as mazdoors, malis, masons, carpenters, cooks, sweepers, peons, chowkidars, etc, in various government departments are illiterate and therefore could not appear for the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board exam despite having served the departments for over 15 years.
