HAPOLI, Feb 18: The two-day training programme on house-listing and housing census and updation of the National Population Register (NPR) for district and census charge officers of Lower Subansiri and Kamle districts concluded here on Tuesday.
Addressing the valedictory programme, Census Director Dr Joram Beda said, “The census is the most credible source of information on demography (population characteristics) and socioeconomic activities.”
This is the only source of primary data at the village, town and ward levels, and provides information for planning and formulation of policies by the central and the state governments, he said.
Dr Beda said the exercise for the 16th census of India “will be the first ever digital census of the country through mobile app; therefore we will have to keep ourselves abreast and feed the right data.”
The training, which had been inaugurated by Lower Subansiri DC Chukhu Takar on Monday, was attended by Kamle DC Moki Loyi, Ziro ADC Nending Chatung, Ziro SDO B Tawsik, and census charge officers of both the districts. (DIPRO)
