NEC releases Rs 3.25 cr for Arunachal

SHILLONG, Apr 3: The North Eastern Council (NEC) on Thursday released Arunachal’s share of Rs 3.25 crore to fight the Covid-19 outbreak.
This untied fund can be utilized as gap funding in activities relating to the Covid-19 pandemic not covered under the existing central packages, an NEC release said.
“The flexibility of the untied funds would enable the state government to respond effectively and in a timely manner, as per the situation on the ground. This fund would be in addition to the funds otherwise allocated by the ministry of DoNER/NEC
to Arunachal Pradesh under the existing schemes,” it said.
During a recent video conference between DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and the officers of the DoNER/NEC, it was decided that the DoNER/NEC would provide Rs 25 crore to the NE states in support of their efforts to fight the virus outbreak.
