BOMDILA, Apr 10: Anticipating a rush of returnees, including students, in the hundreds via the Bhalukpong check gate to the district at the end of the 21-day lockdown, West Kameng DC Karma Leki on Friday suggested completely closing the Balemu check gate to civilians.
“Closure of Balemu gate for civilians would facilitate convergence of medical expertise, police personnel, resources and necessary manpower at Bhalukpong, and this way the containment measures, screening and quarantine
could be strengthened at Bhalukpong entry point,” the DC said during a meeting with the SP, the Covid-19 nodal officer and the task force heads here to discuss steps to be taken post lockdown.
Stating that people of East Kameng and Tawang districts would also be entering via Bhalukpong (which is in West Kameng), the DC informed that 122 quarantine facilities have been identified in Bhalukpong and scanning of people entering the three districts would be done at Bhalukpong.
He suggested holding a video conference with the DCs, SPs and DMOs of East Kameng and Tawang before the lockdown ends, in order to work out a suitable modality and enhance coordination.
Earlier, in a meeting with the hoteliers here, Covid-19 nodal officer K Wangda and DMO, Dr Wange, urged the hoteliers to let their hotels be requisitioned as quarantine facilities at minimal charges.
The hoteliers were also briefed on the measures to be taken with regard to people under quarantine. (DIPRO)
