Pongte briefs Birla on measures taken by GoAP against Covid-19

ITANAGAR, Apr 21: Arunachal Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte on Tuesday briefed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on the various measures taken by the Arunachal government against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the state.
A release from the speaker’s PR cell said Birla held a videoconference with the legislative assembly speakers to discuss the prevailing situation vis-à-vis the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pongte informed the LS Speaker that Arunachal has became a coronavirus-free state after the lone patient in the state recovered.
“With unwavering and dedicated efforts from the frontline workers, Arunachal is now free from Covid-19 positive case,” he said.
The release said a Covid-19 control room will be set up in the legislative assembly here soon to “monitor, felicitate and liaise with issues related to Covid-19.”
During the meeting, Birla said that control rooms should be set up in the state assemblies “for better coordination between states in helping migrant labourers and students stranded due to the ongoing lockdown.”
He also urged the state assemblies to explore the feasibility of extensive use of digital technology in legislative and financial work, and for other routine tasks, such as meetings and file movements, “so as to make sure that stringent social distancing norms are followed in the respective states.”
