Ration provided to 379 from TCNL

ITANAGAR, May 2: As many as 379 persons, especially students, from Tirap, Changlang, Namsai and Longding (TCNL) districts, stranded in the capital region due to the nationwide lockdown, were provided with ration items by members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) operating the Tirap Changlang Namsai and Longding (TCNL) students’ helpline.
The helpline is an initiative of representatives of the AAPSU to help the stranded students of the four districts in the capital region, AAPSU deputy spokesperson Nepha Wangsa, who is the helpline coordinator, informed in a release on Saturday.
Wangsa said that 94 students in Nirjuli, Lekhi and Doimukh were provided with ration items in the first phase of the initiative, and that the team covered 227 students in Itanagar and Naharlagun in the second phase.
Twenty-six and 32 students were provided with ration items during the third and the fourth phase, respectively, he said.
“The team not only helped the students but also youths doing odd jobs and some common people who were really in need,” Wangsa said.
The helpline team expressed gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein for providing essential commodities for about 300 students.
The team also received assistance from Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang, the coordinator informed, and added that Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, MLA Wanglin Lowangdong, Tirap DC PN Thungon and AAPSU president Hawa Bagang also extended cooperation in mobilizing the team.
