KHONSA, May 11: Personnel of the 6th Assam Rifles (AR) apprehended an overground worker (OGW) of the NSCN (K), identified as Logan Medam (39), here in Tirap district on Sunday.
A resident of nearby Borduria, Medam was reportedly carrying out extortion activities in the town at the instruction of the outfit’s self-styled sergeant B Tangjang.
Among others things, two mobile phones and an SD card were recovered from his possession.
Earlier, on Saturday, the 9th AR, based in Kharsang, in Changlang district, nabbed a self-styled NSCN (U) private, identified as Wangphen Hakun, from Rajanagar-II village in Bordumsa circle.
Hakun was also reportedly involved in extorting from private establishments, government officers, and even elected leaders.
He was handed over to the police in Kharsang, and a case has been registered against him.
