NEHRO seeks PPE, insurance policy for all frontline workers

NAMSAI, May 14: The North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) has appealed to the state government to immediately provide sufficient personal protection equipment (PPE) to all the frontline workers, and to come out with an insurance policy for the Covid-19 warriors.
In a press release, the NEHRO on Thursday claimed that its members visited the Dirak check gate in Namsai district and witnessed “complete lack of PPE for sanitary staff and police personnel on duty.”
It said it has lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission against the government of Arunachal for “deliberately compromising with the personal safety of the frontline workers.”
“This is a case of complete negligence from government,” the NEHRO said.
It pointed out that the risk of the frontline workers getting infected is extremely high as thousands of stranded people are returning to the state, many of them from the red zones.
