PASIGHAT, Jun 14: After two frontline workers tested positive for Covid-19, the East Siang district administration carried out intense contact-tracing, during which 66 contacts – 16 primary and 43 secondary – were identified and have been put under home quarantine and observation.
DC Kinny Singh said on Saturday that 48 samples of close contacts have been taken and the results are awaited.
Singh urged the people to maintain all guidelines to fight Covid-19.
“However, we must avoid social stigma at all costs,” she said.
Outlining the measures taken by the administration, the DC said all close contacts of Covid-19 positive cases have been segregated and put under quarantine.
“Further course of action will depend upon the results of the 48 samples taken today (Saturday). The remaining samples are being taken, and contact tracing is further on,” she said.
Medically certified PPE have been provided to the frontline workers, and the doctors and health workers engaged at CCCs have been put in two separate quarantine facilities and the district Covid hospital.
In order to contain the spread of the virus, the staff who were working in the quarantine centre where the positive cases were detected have also been quarantined, the DC said.
“All health staff and sanitation staff, including lab technicians working at the district Covid hospital in the NEIFM (AYUSH) building and the CCC have been put into separate buildings. They were transported in special vehicles to prevent further spread,” Singh said.
Till now all nine Covid-19 positive patients are asymptomatic and stable, and are being closely monitored by the healthcare team.
“The district medical officer has been directed to conduct fresh medical examination of all frontline workers and issue prophylactic upon the assessment of co-morbidities to prevent any side effects,” the DC said. (DIPRO)
