Police register case against one for sneaking out of QF

ITANAGAR, Jun 14: A case has been registered against a male for sneaking out of the Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok quarantine centre on 13 June. The person, who is in his early 20s, has been shifted to the state quarantine facility (QF) in Lekhi for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP).
Capital SP Tumme Amo informed that a formal complaint was received from nodal officer Inya Riba that the man was missing from his room in the quarantine centre on 13 June, at around 7.30 pm.
A team comprising SDPO K Sikom, Inspector Phassang Simi, SI N Nishant, the DEDO and others immediately initiated a search operation based on the man’s mobile tower location, which displayed the IG Park area.
The team was later joined by MO Dr Tamar Kabak and nodal officer Riba.
However, the inmate, a resident of Ganga village here, returned to the quarantine centre within a few hours.
During enquiry, he revealed that he had managed to sneak out through the hotel room’s window, which did not have a grille.
He also revealed that he returned to the hotel room on receiving information from his mother about the police searching for him.
The man claimed that he did not meet anybody outside during the period.
A case (u/s 269/271 IPC r/w Section 51(b) of DM Act, 2005) has been registered against the person.
The capital police have requested the youths and others who have returned from outside the state to cooperate with them, and follow the SOP and advice of the medical team to keep the capital free of the coronavirus.
“We must all guard and shield the quarantine centres, so that the virus does not come out of quarantine centres to take a free tour of our capital to infect us all,” the SP added.
