DC advises villagers to adopt scientific agriculture

KHONSA, Jun 14: Tirap DC Bhanu Prabha advised the farmers of the district to adopt scientific agricultural practices to increase crop production.
The DC on Sunday visited Khela village, around 12 kms from here, to identify areas for cluster farming.
Interacting with farmer-producer groups, members
of organizations, the village chief and the GB, Prabha assured them of all possible assistance and guidance from the government.
She advised the villagers to take up agriculture on a commercial basis, “moving beyond subsistence farming to improve their economic condition.”
She commended fish farmer Tejoang Socia and vegetable grower Litnya Socia for “being role models for others in the village,” and encouraged them to continue their activities sincerely.
Later, the DC inspected the education institutions in Khela, including the Eklavya Model Residential School, the 50-bedded girls’ hostel, and the upper primary school (UPS), and interacted with the parents and teachers of the UPS.
Earlier, responding to a public memorandum regarding irrigation and agro-link road, the DC assured to extend all possible help.
Among others, DDSE Hortum Loyi, DAO Pangnyai Khoisia and EAC Hakresha Kri accompanied the DC during the visit. (DIPRO)
