AALO, 16 Mar: The West Siang legal metrology & consumer affairs (LMCA) department observed World Consumer Rights Day at Old Market here on 15 March. More than 100 traders of the area participated in it.
Addressing the participants, retired APP commandant Raken Padu advised the traders not to sell items above the MRP, follow good trade practices, and put their efforts in making Aalo a plastic-free zone.
NEFTU law department assistant professor Shanti Borah requested the LMCA department to collaborate with the NEFTU’s law department “to provide consumer awareness programme in the days to come.”
LMCA Assistant Controller JK Lobom emphasized on the need to create awareness among the consumers, and exhorted the traders to abide by the rules and regulations and not indulge in unfair trade practices.
He also appealed to them to follow environment-friendly steps, such as minimizing use of plastics.
The participants were shown a practical demonstration by ILM & CA Toyir Riba on packaged commodities, weights and measures and weighing and measuring instruments.
