ITANAGAR, May 19: In an unprecedented development, four insurgents believed to be from NSCN K-Yongang (YA) faction were reportedly beaten up by the villagers at Longkhaw, Longding district.
The incident reportedly occurred on 16 May, when four insurgents allegedly assaulted and abducted one villager, identified as Khamjan Wangsu from the village and took him to the jungles of Maihua village.
Alarmed by the incident, the villagers reportedly chased four UGs in the jungle and rescued the abducted man. The ultras reportedly fired upon the villagers to scare them away. However, the angry villagers reportedly rounded them up and nabbed the ultras and snatched their weapons.
Sources in Longding informed that the valiant villagers thrashed the ultras and freed the abducted villagers. However, after hours of parley, the villagers released the ultras along with their weapons.
Later, the villagers lodged an FIR against the NSCN – KYA.
Confirming the incident, Longding DySP Banghang Tangjang informed that a case has been registered with the Longding police under section 364A/323/506/34 IPC RW Sec 10/13 UAP Act. However, DySP Tangjang added that the villagers did not disclose the seizure of weapons to them.
