ITANAGAR, 20 May: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has sought a status report from the East Siang superintendent of police regarding the assault on a woman by her live-in partner, Tumi Ado.
While the APSCW lauded the East Siang police for the timely arrest of the alleged accused, it said that the accused should be booked under appropriate sections of the law, so that a strong case is made against him.
“The necessary chargesheet should be filed as early as possible, so that justice may be meted out to the victim and her family members. Further, bail should be strongly objected to by the police, so that it is rejected by the court,” it said, and condemned the heinous crime.
The APSCW, which has already taken suo moto cognizance of the case, requested the society not to take the law into their own hands, in order to ensure smooth and fair investigation of the case.
