ITANAGAR, 16 Jun: Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) District Medical Officer Dr Mandip Perme informed that till Tuesday, 67,907 people had been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the ICR.
Briefing the press here on Wednesday evening, the DMO said that 60,264 have taken the first dose and 7,643 have taken their second dose.
He said the number of people getting the second dose is comparatively low due to the lengthy gap introduced by the health ministry in between two doses.
“Vaccination is going on in the proper way in the ICR. There is enough stock, and whenever we run out of stock, the government makes vaccines available,” said Dr Perme.
Regarding the vaccination of those in the 18 to 44 years age category, he said that 22,566 people had taken the vaccination till Tuesday in this category.
Further, the DMO said that the Covid-19 situation is under control for now.
“Daily we are testing above 1,000 people. The positivity rate is around 5 percent. So far, the situation is under control. I appeal to the people to continue to wear masks and maintain Covid-appropriate behaviour,” he said.
The DMO urged the citizens to go for tests and seek medical help at the first instance of exhibition of symptoms.
“It has been observed that people delay in seeking medical attention till they face major trouble like breathlessness. This is causing major trouble,” added Dr Perme.
