DC seeks early completion of new bridge

SEPPA, 12 Jul: Taking suo moto cognizance of the precarious condition of the Pao Soh bridge near Riga camp on the Seppa-Chayang Tajo road, East Kameng DC P Pravimal Abhishek has directed the Chayang Tajo PWD division to ensure completion of the proposed new bridge by 15 August.

The DC’s order comes following the report submitted by a three-member technical committee which had assessed the bridge.

The Pao Soh bridge connects Chayang Tajo subdivision with the rest of the state.

The proposed bridge is part of the construction and improvement of the Seppa-Chayang Tajo road project funded by the NEC. The construction of the new bridge has allegedly been delayed for many years.

As an interim measure, the DC instructed the PWD to assess the physical and structural strength of the existing bridge, and directed that warning signages be installed there, “indicating the threshold load capacity of the existing bridge to regularize safe movement of vehicles.” (DIPRO)
