Felix urges PR leaders, officers to make Arunachal ‘Covid shield state’

ITANAGAR, 13 Jul: Panchayati Raj Minister Bamang Felix on Tuesday urged all the panchayat leaders and government officers to work together on a war footing in their respective areas to make Arunachal a “Covid shield state within the next two-three months.”

Addressing a state level webinar on ‘Orientation to panchayati raj leaders and other functionaries in fighting Covid-19 in the state’, the minister highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the PR leaders, and asked them to play a proactive role in creating awareness on Covid-appropriate behaviour.

The minister also emphasized on preparing reports on the performance at the zilla parishad and the gram panchayat levels in the fight against Covid-19. He further urged all the stakeholders to expedite the implementation of all flagship programmes.

Earlier, SIRD&PR Director Habung Lampung said that, with more technical knowledge on Covid-19-related issues, the PR leaders can make the efforts of the government machinery in fighting Covid-19 easier.

Lampung asked all panchayat leaders to “make a target of motivating at least 25 people within their areas to abide by the Covid-19 SOPs.”

Panchayati Raj Director Tamune Miso requested all the DPDOs to expedite the implementation of other government schemes.

The state level webinar was conducted by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR), in collaboration with the National Health Mission and the UNICEF.

More than 250 participants, including deputy commissioners, ZPCs, ZPMs, DPDOs and other functionaries of the PR institutions from every district attended the webinar.
