TATO, 14 Jul: Shi-Yomi Deputy Commissioner Mito Dirchi has instructed the Mechuka RWD executive engineer (EE) to look into the matter of poor quality of blacktopping work and drainage system on the PMGSY road from Bumjipanga 0 Point to Lhallung village.
The DC’s direction came following the submission of a representation by the All Memba Students’ Union, seeking steps to address the poor construction of the PMGSY road.
“Presently, blacktopping and drainage works are underway around Mechuka village, but they are in a pathetic condition, without the involvement of engineers and other technical persons,” the union stated in the representation.
It said that “the condition of blacktopping and drainage is dilapidated and already collapsed within a short span of time,” adding that “reckless work being carried out in the absence of a technical person” has resulted in the road’s condition worsening with each passing day.
