Urban affairs min assures of fund for IMC

NEW DELHI, 16 Jul: Union Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has assured to allocate “100 percent fund” for the development of various projects under the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC).

The assurance came when IMC Mayor Tame Phassang called on the minister at his office here on Friday and submitted a representation regarding the proposed major projects under the IMC.

Responding to the representation, Puri commended the IMC “for being the voice of its public” and bringing the grievances of the public to his ministry.

At the mayor’s invitation, Puri said that he would visit Arunachal soon. He further commended the Arunachal government for implementing various projects successfully in the state.

Earlier, Phassang briefed the minister on the major proposed projects and sought funds for the construction of a municipal solid waste management plant, construction of drainage system “on GIS-based master plan for the Itanagar capital region,” and multi-level car parking in various locations under the IMC.

“Itanagar being the capital city requires many infrastructures to boost up. The proposed infrastructures are employment generation schemes which will help the unemployed youths and also generate revenue for the corporation,” Phassang said.

IMC Corporator Tarh Achak also attended the meeting.
