Building byelaws to be implemented strictly: DC

ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom has said that the building byelaws will be implemented in letter and spirit to check unplanned growth of buildings, illegal constructions and land encroachment in the ICR.

On Monday, the DC convened a meeting with the officers of the town planning department and discussed issues regarding building permits, the requirement of NOC for obtaining such permits, and other related issues.

Saying that land allotment and land possession certificates are “a must to obtain building permit,” he urged the residents to follow the state’s building byelaws “for systematic growth of the town and also to reduce disaster risks.”

As per the Arunachal Pradesh Urban and Country Planning Act, 2007, the building byelaws are applicable to both rural and urban areas of the whole state, said ICR Assistant Town Planner Tabom Tamut.

Later, the DC said he would also convene a meeting with the practicing architects in the ICR regarding affordable building design charges. (DIPRO)
