KHONSA, 20 Jul: A team of the Tirap district administration, headed by Town Magistrate Ripi Doni, conducted an unannounced checking of meat and fish prices in different locations here on Tuesday.
During the checking drive, it was found that some butchers were selling broiler chicken at a price beyond the government approved rate.
Executive Magistrate Nekong Perme and SDFCSO Bompi Kadu warned the butchers against selling meat and fish at prices beyond those fixed by the government. They also asked the butchers to display the price list issued by the DFCSO in their shop premises.
Kadu distributed the latest price list of meat and fish items to all the butchers.
The district administration will be convening a meeting with the Khonsa Bazaar Welfare Committee and meat wholesalers on 21 July to ascertain the actual wholesale prices of meat and fish in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and other places in neighbouring Assam. (DIPRO)
