MIKONG, 25 Sep: An awareness meeting on food and nutrition was conducted at the government upper primary school (UPS) here in East Siang district on Saturday as part of the National Nutrition Month celebration.
Science TGT Renuka Mize spoke on the benefits of locally available food resources containing high nutritional values. She also explained how nutrient deficiencies can cause various serious health issues.
Science teacher Takong Taki highlighted the negative effects of eating fast food on human body.
A ‘speech competition’ on various nutritional issues was also conducted among the schoolchildren.
The school’s teachers, along with SMC members, medical staffers, anganwadi workers, women SHG members and local villagers attended the programme.
