Bugun liocichla Utsav concludes

BOMDILA, 15 Oct: The five-day Bugun liocichla Utsav concluded on Friday with a ceremonial plantation programme at the Bugun eco-camp, screening of three short films, and a song showcasing the conservation initiatives of the Bugun and Sherdukpen communities.

Addressing the concluding programme, West Kameng ZPC Rinchin Zomba Merakpa commended the Bugun community and said that the Buguns have been “the torchbearers of community conservation in Arunachal Pradesh.”

Besides advising the local youths to “come forward and give services as professional guides and tour operators to the visiting tourists and researchers,” she assured to provide all assistance to the Singchung Bugun Village Community Reserve (SBVCR) and the local Bugun community.

The ZPC also handed over books for the Bugun eco-library.

Former minister DK Thongdok, who was also present, assured the community of “full participation on behalf of the Sherdukpen community in conservation and protection initiatives of the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and the SBVCR.”

Later, subject experts were felicitated and prizes and certificates were distributed to the students who participated in various educational activities organized during the five-day nature and awareness camp.

Among others, Dr Ramanna Atreya, Dr Umesh Srinivasan, Singchung ADC Mokar Riba, and the festival’s organizing chairman Sang Norbu Sarai attended the concluding programme. (DIPRO)
