ITANAGAR, 15 Oct: The district legal services authorities (DLSA) across the state observed World Students’ Day on 15 October as part of the pan-India legal awareness and outreach campaign.
In the capital region, the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the Himalayan University, conducted a door-to-door legal awareness campaign and provided free legal counselling at Daath, Hokka, Dami and Jullang villages.
Members of the Papum Pare DLSA conducted a door-to-door campaign in Model Village near Naharlagun and participated in a talk show on a local news channel.
The East Siang and West Siang DLSAs also conducted door-to-door campaigns, while the Tawang DLSA, in collaboration with local NGO Human Rights First, organized a legal awareness programme at Dorjee Khandu College in Tawang.
The East Kameng, Lohit and Lower Dibang Valley DLSAs also organized legal awareness programmes.
During the programmes, the people were made aware of the role of the DLSAs in providing free legal services to the marginalized sections, and of the National Legal Services Authority’s mandated schemes like legal aid clinics and lok adalats, besides the Right to Education Act, the POCSO Act, the Child Marriage Restraint Act, the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011, the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, etc.
