PASIGHAT, 29 Oct: An ‘awareness programme-cum-demonstration on vermicomposting’ under the HRD ministry’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) was organized at Mirbuk village in East Siang district on 29 October.
The nodal officer of the programme, Prof BN Hazarika, who is also the dean of the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here, shared his ideas on village developmental works under the UBA programme. He assured the villagers of technical support for installation of vermicomposting units and other relevant activities.
Mirbuk village secretary Tarung Taning spoke on “village beautification through installation of streetlights and provision for vermicomposting.”
Programme coordinator Dr Y Disco Singh sought support from the community members for effective execution of developmental activities, while co-coordinator Dr Punabati Heisnam delivered a lecture on vermicomposting and made a pictorial demonstration on it. She also interacted with the community members to clarifying their doubts.
Around 40 villagers participated in the programme.
