ITANAGAR, 11 Jan: Fourteen legislators from the Nyishi community have condemned the All Nyishi Youth Association’s (ANYA) announcement to enforce a 36-hour capital region bandh from 13 January.
Leading the legislators, MLA Hayeng Mangfi in a press conference held at the legislative assembly’s conference hall here on Tuesday informed that a consultative meeting with regard to the ANYA’s bandh call was held on Monday, wherein a four-point resolution was agreed upon by the legislators, which was later forwarded to the Nyishi Elite Society (NES).
In the resolution, the legislators denounced the bandh call, terming it an “illogical and illegitimate grievance.”
The Nyishi legislators had asked the NES to have a discussion with the ANYA for withdrawal of the proposed bandh. They further urged the NES to derecognize the ANYA led by its current president if it fails to withdraw the bandh call.
The legislators further stated that the “Nyishi legislators shall not be held responsible if the state government takes stern legal action against the enforcer of illegal and undemocratic bandh call as per the law of the land.”
