Month-long certificate course on social audit

ITANAGAR, 17 May: A one month certificate course on social audit is being conducted by the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) for the resource persons of social audit unit.

In his inaugural address, SIRD&PR director Habung Lampung emphasized that proper social audit is a key to ensure transparent and effective implementation of schemes in the field level. He requested the course coordinator to devise the training module in such a way that a small research is also done from Arunachal’s perspective to ensure that social audit is carried out effectively on every mandated scheme. He further emphasized that ‘social audit being a mandatory provision under MGNREGA, it is a powerful tool for social transformation, community participation and accountability.’

Earlier, social audit unit director K. Ronya apprised the participants about the various provisions of social audit. He informed about the current status of manpower in the social audit unit. He further urged the participants to take full advantage of training so that mandated provisions can be complied upon.

Assistant director-cum-course coordinator S.W Bagang apprised about the detailed course structure and topics to be imparted in the month-long course including, salient features of MGNREGA, PMAY-G and social accountability.
