ROING, 21 May: Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of a 51 feet tall bronze statue of Parshuram at Parshuram Kund in Lohit district on Saturday afternoon.
Shah also unveiled a five feet tall statue of lord Parshuram on the day.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, MP Tapir Gao, and a host of ministers and MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan were present on the occasion. Mein informed the visiting dignitaries that thousands of pilgrims visit the kund during Makar Sankranti every year.
Stating that Rs 37 crores has been provided under the PRASAD scheme for the development of the site, Mein requested the central government to provide additional fund to make it a world-class pilgrimage and tourist site. (DIPRO)
