ITANAGAR, 30 May: Arunachal Pradesh won two bronze medals in the 35th Senior Tug-of-War National Championships (Beach)-2020, held at Shiroda beach in Vengurla, Maharashtra, on Monday.
The state won the medals in the catch weight and the men’s 560 kg weight categories, defeating Gujarat and Maharashtra, respectively, by an identical 2-0 margin.
The men’s team entered into the semifinals after defeating Andhra Pradesh 2-0 in the quarterfinals. It lost to Punjab in the semifinal.
Arunachal lost four matches and drew one in the men’s 580 kg category, and crashed out of the championships.
The 600 kg mix team won one, drew one and lost two matches, and bowed out of the championships.
The women’s team, which participated in the 480 kg category, also crashed out of the event. The team won one, drew one and lost two matches.
