YINGKIONG, 21 Jun: Twenty-five farmwomen of Bentuk village, representing five SHGs in Upper Siang district, benefitted from an awareness programme on agroforestry and balanced use of fertilisers conducted here by the Upper Siang KVK on Tuesday.
During the programme, KVK Head (in-charge) Dr Oyinti Megu conducted technical sessions on the importance and role of organic fertilisers, role of soil testing, and crop residue management.
Practical demonstration on techniques of soil sample collection, and the preparation method and use of Trichoderma species was also done.
The demonstrations were designed with special reference to king chilli, which is one of the major cash crops in the district.
The participants were later provided with kitchen gardening vegetable packets.
