AALO, 8 Sep: The West Siang district disaster management cell and the district administration, in collaboration with Doimukh-based 12th battalion of the National Disaster Response Force, launched a series of disaster management and preparedness programmes at the Kendriya Vidyalaya here on Thursday to spread awareness regarding dealing with various types of calamities.
Apart from tabletop exercises, mock drills on disaster management and preparedness, rescue operations during and after an earthquake, fire, etc, school safety programmes, and community awareness programmes will be conducted, involving students, teachers, panchayat leaders, the district incident response team and other key stakeholders during the fortnight-long programme.
DDMO Dorjee Nima spoke on preparation of school disaster management plan, while the NDRF team headed by Inspector Puleshwar Lahon presented a mock drill, creating a scenario of earthquake.
More than 200 students and 22 teachers attended the programme, which will end on 22 September. (DIPRO)
