NAHARLAGUN, 8 Sep: Thirty participants attended an ‘entrepreneur meet-cum-training programme’ on mushroom cultivation, organised by the Itanagar branch of the North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST) here on Thursday.
NEIST principal scientist Dr Chandan Tamuly said that “mushroom is a source of Vitamin D, protein, minerals, etc,” adding that “we can take such nutraceticals from mushroom at very low cost.”
TA Priyanka Kakoti made a presentation on ‘Commercial cultivation of mushroom towards sustainable socioeconomic development to combat malnutrition’.
The participants were given hands-on training, and also taken to the NEIST’s mushroom incubation centre to familiarise them with the process of mushroom production.
