ITANAGAR, 18 Sep: A ‘poshan abhiyan’ was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) across the state on 17 September.
In Changlang, the programme emphasised on the nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children from 0-6 years of age.
Addressing the participants, KVK Head Dr Devendra Singh Chonnkar stressed on the “necessity of nutritional value in our day to day diet,” while agronomist Ashutosh Pratap Singh spoke about nutritional gardens and “biofortified varieties.”
Community scientist Nanhi Chanya spoke on ‘nutria-cereals and their role in human health’.
One thousand saplings of various fruits, along with IFFCO vegetable seeds kits, were distributed among the farmers.
The Namsai KVK organised a poshan abhiyan and a tree plantation programme, which were attended by ninety farmers and KVK staffers.
Speakers included KVK Head Dr Debasis Sasmal, and plant protection scientist Dr Madhumita Sonowal Bora.
Eighty seed packets and 200 arecanut saplings were distributed among 200 farmers.
In Tawang district, 75 farmers and farmwomen, along with officers of the social welfare department, and others participated in a poshan abhiyan conducted in Kitpi village.
In Longding district, the poshan abhiyan, along with a tree plantation programme, was organised in Kanubari. Altogether 110 HoDs, public leaders, farmers and students attended the programme.
