JULLANG, 18 Sep: The agriculture department of the Himalayan University (HU) here organised an orientation programme on the Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) project for its BSc (agriculture) final year students on Saturday.
HU vice chancellor Prof HS Sharma, who inaugurated the programme, spoke about the scope of agriculture and different farming systems, while Agriculture HoD Dr Raja Husain delivered a lecture on the ‘Guidelines of RAWE’.
He dwelt also on organic crop management practices to enhance crop production in Arunachal.
HU dean (research) Prof Deba Prasad spoke about the impact of chemical fertilisers and pesticides on human and plant health, and agriculture faculty member Dr Mahesh Prajapati explained plant tissue culture and marking tools used in agriculture.
