BHUBANESWAR, 30 Dec: Promising shuttler Samuel Tamang of Arunachal Pradesh lost to Mohammad Mir of Gujarat in the quarterfinal of the 34th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship here in Odisha on Thursday.
He lost to Mir in 17-21, 15- 21 sets in the boys’ U-15 singles event.
Tamang had entered into the quarterfinal after defeating India’s third ranked Prateek Koundilya of Karnataka 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 21-16).
“In the round of 64, Tamang had defeated Harish Ragavendiren V of Pondicherry 21-11, 27-25, and Aamaan Khan of Chhattisgarh 21-16, 19-21, 21-18 in the round of 32,” informed team manager Nabam Tado.
The tournament is one of the annual calendar events of the Badminton Association of India.
