Boundary issues in E/Siang resolved: DC

PASIGHAT, 9 Feb: East Siang DC Tayi Taggu on Thursday informed that the longstanding interstate boundary issues between East Siang district and Assam’s Dhemaji district have been resolved.

He said that the resolution was arrived at during the third meeting of the regional committees of East Siang and Dhemaji districts, held in Guwahati recently.

MLA and East Siang regional committee chairman Ninong Ering, and Assam’s cabinet minister and Dhemaji regional committee chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah, besides Taggu and his Dhemaji counterpart AK Bhattacharya and the members of both the committees, after threadbare discussion on the reports of the East Siang and the Dhemaji administrations, and after examining the existing settlements along the interstate boundary, arrived at a resolution and adopted a mutually agreed upon boundary line with geo-coordinates as the interstate boundary line acceptable to both the committees, the DC said.

“The agreement signed in Guwahati wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of Health Minister Alo Libang, MLAs Ninong Ering and Lombo Tayeng, ADCs Ainstein Koyu and Tajing Jonnom, COs Tadhe Tatung and Oyam Saring, and their associates, besides AMBK executives Okom Yosung, Raju Medok and Mojit Pao,” said Taggu.

“The development will usher in a new era of cordial relationship with the neighbouring state,” he added. (DIPRO)
